- Great Pool - Awesome Price
My husband and I have owned this pool for over a year now. We love it! Yes, it must be darn close to perfectly level. We don't allow more than a 1" variance to ensure you don't have leakage problems. I will say to all those whining about the ring leaks. First of all, be careful when you handle the pool - it takes a MINIMUM of TWO people to move and handle the pool. Secondly, they include patches for a reason. If you have kids or idiotic friends who like to play rough in the pool, yes, you're probably going to spring a leak. However, it's super-easy to patch (no, you don't actually need to take the whole pool down just to patch the ring but be sure the area is completely dry before applying a patch). It's VERY simple to find a leak in the ring. Go around the pool, dunking the ring under water. You'll see a bunch of air bubbles where there is a leak. Simply wipe the area dry and use one of the included patches (or you can buy them super cheap online). Problem solved. The patches are clear so you really don't see them. We've only had to patch ONE spot on the pool, which was where a puppy claw had slightly broke through on the ring. I don't know what people are expecting from a $75 pool, but we've had no complaints about ours. It's great to come home and cool off on a hot day - even better to hop in after mowing the lawn or doing yard work. I would recommend upgrading to a better pump, but if you're smart and use a cover, you should have NO problems. Also, I do recommend using a ground tarp simply because it's a practical way to avoid tearing the bottom of the pool. Yes, pools are pricy when you add in chemicals and prep items. IT'S A POOL! All pools have these expenses. We highly recommend this pool for those who don't want a huge hassle. It's waaay better than those stupid kiddie pools and so much easier to deal with. We took ours down last fall, but we plan to leave it up this year. A little shock and some chlorine and the pool is sparkling clean!
- Know what you are getting
This is a good pool for what it is, and if you go into the purchase knowing that, you will be satisfied. For us, no need for the expense and maintenance of an inground pool or needing to winterize a permanent above ground, we just wanted something for the kids to play with and won't cost us money after they are grown. This fits the bill. Now, I think it is imperative to say, as you realize these are inexpensive alternatives, the old notion of you get what you pay for comes into play. This is not going to be a buy once and use for 10 years unless you're lucky. More than likely this will last about three seasons, possibly only two. The material can get holes in it very easily and you can only do so much patching. Now in the first season I usually don't get any, but over time they do develop, especially after drying out and folding away. So if you are willing to look at it as $100 or so a season and can live with that fine. To me I think I'll end up buying 4 of these total, so my investment will be less than two grand for 10 to 15 summers of fun (including salt water system pump and filters) and that is fine with me, but go into it knowing your probably looking at 5 years total if lucky.
Do listen to the other reviews, it says level ground for a reason, a slight slope won't work, get as close to level ground as possible or it will fill all to one side and you will have wasted a lot of water as all the water will run out. Tip while filling, every half hour or so if using a garden hose like me, go around and lift the wall, this will keep from water building up over any fold and also keep it filling evenly. Also, don't over-inflate the air ring, it doesn't need to be tight or over-inflated, it doesn't make a difference, and remember heat causes air to expand, a hot day with an over-inflated ring could cause it to pop. 2/3rds to 3/4 of the way inflater does the trick just fine.
Now, I do recommend the salt water system for this, it keeps the water clean all summer for me with an initial $19 salt purchase. Plus the bigger pump makes a world of difference and is programmable, definately worth it if you are planning on using these pools for years. Also the solar cover makes a world of difference. I think these are great especially since they come with everything you need but chemicals. Our kids love having it and we use it a few hours a day it seems. So it works well for us, but know what you are getting before purchasing.
- Very nice product for the price
I am very happy with my purchase of this pool. We have had several of these types of pools in the past and I have never been disappointed. Amazon had the best price of anyone and I am happy with the quality. This pool is very durable. Our other pools have been larger than this one and we actually bought this one primarily for the dog. She loves it too!
